kenny14 656
I've got the 452 silhouette in .22, fitted with a sak moderator, and find it light, quiet, and very accurate. Quote Link to post
Effortless 0
I have one, and I love it. I went for the Varmint, as I started out in target shooting, so I tend to prefer heavier rifles, even if I have to carry them. Trigger was a bit agricultural, but soon fixed with a Brooks trigger kit, WELL worth the money!! Trigger is LOVELY now!! I have a Hawke 6x42 (can't stand zooms), SAK moderator, Harris bipod, and an olde worlde leather sling. Suits me. HTH, Effortless. Quote Link to post
pipcock 21
Why the american? Why do you need a heavy barreled gun in a .22lr.. The americans are lighter all round and narrower profile, I have both and I'd rather the american over the varmint any day. for some reason mine says American Varmint on it ,with a nice bit of wood on it ? anyway as far as weight goes i dont think there all that bad as my eight yr old carries mine around all day Quote Link to post
Sasha 0
I put another one in for the American. Got it when I first got my FAC and love it. got a trigger kit too and it's topped with a whitetail classic which is a great scope. got that seond-hand off E-bay and well pleased with it. Best of luck pal Quote Link to post
PLEDGEY 496
I have a .22lr and a 17hmr both CZ American. Like others have said, get trigger kits, makes the world of difference. Quote Link to post
masmiffy 82
Use one in 17HMR cracking rifle. Got a £10 trigger kit from Rimfire Magic very easy quick change and crisps it up no end!! Quote Link to post
Ratsmasher 36
sorry if this is just a load of rubbish but reading around (I'm just getting to know my facts on the FAC side of thingsbefore hopefully applying for my license at some point) I thoght that if you had a heavy barreled version if you end up firing a few shots quickly then the barrel doesnt heat up and lose accuracy? or doest it really matter on a 22lr? masmiffy 82
Sure there is some logic or reason behind the heavy barrel theory. Cant say I notice the change in accuracy in the American, when rabbit shooting its often quite a few rounds rapid if there is a lot about! Some may say the heavy barrel on the Varmint makes for a 'steadier' gun. Edited December 19, 2011 by masmiffy Quote Link to post
