NEWKID 27,159
Had a morning out on new permission today, and it was quite tough. We decided to try a big hedge between a cow field and an arable field. This was one big hedge and the ferrets had to work hard to push the rabbits to bolt, my jack russel was invaluble today taking a couple off the top of the hedge and putting enough pressure on a couple to make sure they hit the nets and not another hole in the vast warrens. We had the use of my mates quad and trailer today that was a big help it was his first time ferreting, he shot off at 10 and came back with bacon sarnies I'm gonna make sure he comes a lot more . I had my 5 ferrets today and they all played their part as these were vast warrens but we could've done with another couple of experianced ferrets ( my normal ferreting partner had a long night with the dogs last night so couldn't make today, his ferrets would've been a big help) it was a tough call for my 2 young jills and I was pleased with them but the hobs put a big shift in today. The day finished well with the last rabbit back netting itself in a purse net I'd left on at the start of the run " just in case" A really enjoyable day, dogs and ferrets done well and we've got another convert to the joys of ferreting The new bit for lamp and ferrets This one wasn't getting away Quote Link to post
