wilbur foxhound 480
i have just about smashed every 4x4 you can get terrano's are ok but they have these anti roll bars/supports that can snap and make the motor like a boat to handle, troopers shit them selves and there front drive shafts come out, thus leaving you 4x2. subaru legacy do the same and the foresters go through rear shocks like a fat man through cakes.. shoguns are head cases, break the front diff and the outo locking hubs break, again leaving you 4x2 and proberbly in a tight spot, same as daihatsu fourtraks engine will not die but the electric 4x4 select go's rong and the front axles are weak. range rovers are like trying to handle a hot air ballon and if its petrol will bankrupt you if its diesel tdi good engine but still wont handle and if its a p38 burn it! jeep cherokee's are fast on the road and in the field but again the petrol ones are very juicy the diesel are ok but the rear axles f**k up and the transfer boxes snap. landrover 90's and 110's are good but very pricey and like there front prop changed quite a bit but other than that there ok and sensible on diesel, the discoverys not a bad motor again suffering from the prop shafts and they rust very very bad, nissan patrols and toyota land cruisers with the 4.2 are pretty much bomb proof but very heavy and exspensive i seem to get a lot more punctures in these motors maybe the extra waight or the power i dont no.. a 4x4 as good as any for a lamping mobile is a vitara 2.0 diesel or the v6 petrol comfy little motors and the 2.0 diesel and 2.5 v6 in the newer grand vitara have a lot of power same size engines as motors twice there size, but this is just my oppinion from years of breaking motors off roading and lamping.. have you thought about buying a horse lol
Moll. 1,770
Moll - From what i know the 3ltr engine is just more trouble than its worth. Everyone who i've spoken to who knows anything seems to prefer the 3.1 Cheers BS I have the 3.0 commercial, it's 10yrs old now and i cannot fault it (apart from it's greed) The main thing to go wrong was the turbo but it was still under warranty at the time so no probs. jamie g 17
my mate had a trooper 3.0 lovely 4x4 and when working it is great !! its a lot more powerful then the 3.1. he hasn't had it long it had a new engine after the last one went pop. under warranty due to the injector problems. its giving problems now also. he had the 3.1 for 8 years before that and never once gave him trouble. he wish he never got rid of it now. i also have the Monterey which is the same as the trooper. i have the 3.1 engine in mine,.and other then general stuff it has never broke down or had problems with engine etc. I also drive a lot between shooting and use it as my every day car. and well they are a little thirsty I am not surprised they seam dear to run !!!! when we are getting ripped off with the price of fuel here. ! if it was as cheap here as in other country's even a 4.2 landcruiser would feel like a 1.0 lupo to run  if it was me i wouldnt get the 3.0 there seams to many problems with them overall. the 3.1 is more then good enough for what you want.and has mor ehten enough room in back and boot. just get a good pair of tyres on it. as for the terrano i have never drove one. but the farm i shoot over they have one as a working truck. and its pretty bomb proof. they have the same engine they use in the black taxi's. old school 518
has anyone ever given one of these a try??? http://www.gumtree.com/p/cars-vans-motorbikes/1995-mitsubishi-delica-exceed-28-td-intercooler-auto-8-seater-4x4-4wd-camper-van-mpv/93738015 i bought a 93 2.4 swb shogun!! its comfy and looks good but mileage is shit and from what i hear its because of the low gear ratio... when i'm doin 50mph i feel like reachin for another gear!! the 2.8 is supposedly easier on fuel because it can sit at 70mph with less rev.... mate has a trooper and he loves it and another mate has the terranos but he says the electrics give bother!!!
