I've actually heard a fair few very experianced men saying they actually fire better than Fenn's.
can,t say i have noticed any difference in the fireing , but i would say fenns are a bit stronger than springers and they seem to keep the strength for longer, its all about how you set them

are springers more reliable than fens then :hmm:
in my opinion having trapped hundreds of mink over the years using both fenn,s and springers , also bodygrips and kania,s , the springers were weaker than the fenns, and would often jump apart as the base springs seemed to bend and unhook themselves when they fired and i lost a few mink through this bad fault , they also only had 5 turns on the springs , on either side of the trap pan , as the fenn has 7 turns and was a far better trap , and never once did the fenn traps jump a part , neither the fenn or the springer kills a mink quickly , as i have watched on a few occasions good sized dog and bitch mink getting caught in the early morning ,and were perfectly caught by the neck , i had to dispatch all of them . thats why i used drowing wires as they were down and dead quickly it was far more humane , the 116 bodygrip , also the 120 conibear , and the kania trap , are far more humane traps in dispatching mink and squirrels , if the fenn trap had stronger springs to give it more killingand holding power it would be a far better trap, due to its design its bad for jumping up therefore if setting in a hole , box or tunnel , make sure that the roof of the latter locations give about a 1/2 inch clearance above the closed trap jaws , because if its to high you will get fowel catches and also nothing but belly hair , to improve any traps efficiency degrease them spray paint or dip them and then wax them , they then fire like lightning , some people let them rust to hell , and when you hear them creaking and groaning as they open them its like listening to an old castle,s doors opening , treat your traps with care , and they will last you for many years .moley sells mk.6,s cheaper than these companies , he is on the hunting life site .
