chris hickling 14 Posted March 27, 2007 Report Share Posted March 27, 2007 we have got some new land and it was the first time today that we have been on ,the keeper phoned up told us whereabouts the trouble was and can we do it for him,anyway my mate met and went out with him and had a look around to see where things was,anyway we was on the land this morning at 5 with all the fog down around us ,put the old dog bert in and he was on straight away gave him some time to settle before we dug to him, anyway we got down to him and had it out, the keeper was well happy, we dropped the old dog back in again to see if there was anymore at home ,he revved up again both lurchers was happy looking in every entrance ,anyway we dug down to him for a second time and had it out , back filled and on our way back across the fields ,on the way we came up to a 4 holer but nowt at home in this one then a field away from there a fox was coming towards us , we couldnt see which way he the big dog went with the fog still down so not much hope of a shot .10 minutes later still no jack ,me mate said you can put away the gun I think , we walked the way he went and couldnt find him 30 minutes later still no dog so i told my mate to take the dogs back and i would have another look around for him, couldnt find him anywhere ,well it started going throuth my head is he dead,f**k me ive lost me old dog, i went back to where we first spotted the fox,an hour had gone by by now, my mate phoned me ( have you got him yet chris ) no mate think he might be dead somewhere ,will have to wait for the fog to go then have a good look around again, i phoned the misses and told her what had happend,i sat down and had a couple of fags thinking what am i going to do,if i find him dead hes a lot of dog to put over your shoulder to carry back,then f**k me he came walking back up the dyke towards me from where the 4 holer was as muddy as f**k,he had tracked it to ground and was waiting there for me, happy to see his big ugly head was not the word ,i was overjoyed he was back, i phoned my mate and told him then walked down to the 4 holer ,you could see where he had tried digging in, anyway it beat us all to ground so i gave it best,at least it will be around for another days sport,and we have got a load more new permission.
