just a word of advise weather you take it or not is your choice having run my own charter business for a number of years and knowing a number of

nets men both legal and illegal i will tell you now a lot of them monitor this type of site for information as to fish stocks and locations

for both sea fish and fresh water

they also monitor ship to shore conversations on many occasions whilst bassing with anglers within 15 mins of radio transmissions between charter fishing

boats i have had gill netters arrive and shoot nets within 100yds of my drift :censored:

placing a catch limit on my anglers only to watch the shoals of bass be decimated by the nets men when speaking to them later i am told your blokes

are fishing for fun if they don't catch they still have a job and can support themselves :angry2:

we do this for a living and they are right and no man has the right to take this from them :sorry:

however we do not have to hand it to them on a plate do not indicate on an open forum where or what your catching or if you do change the location if

you want to pass on the location do it by PM or phone

i do a lot of sea fishing but only for the sport all my fish are returned as i dont eat them,i think netting spoils it for the pleasure angler, but if there is money to be made people will just go about it as usual and find ways around things, just my opinion

nice to hear your a sport fisherman  and i would encourage all anglers to safely return any fish not required for the table your skipper and crew should assist you in landing and unhooking

if required and advise you on the legal size limit for each species as he is responsible if you retain undersized fish as you are  in your case this would not be applicable as all your fish are returned

remember if your booking a boat check he is licenced and insured you only have one life so look after it by fishing with a professional skipper

yes there's many pleasure anglers out there thats a bit blinkerd to the netters they don't see then they don't know about it untill someone brings it up :hmm:

yes your right there are lots and lots and lots of nets out there

they fall into three categories the licenced the poacher and the thief

the licenced netter pursues his trade and pays taxes like the rest of us this is his job and feeds his family and his taxes support those less fortunate

the poacher that has a fish or two to feed his family this has gone on for years without any real major problems to fish stocks :whistling:

then there is the third type they operate in gangs targeting the money fish salmon, sea trout, bass, trout and carp fisheries this is not the one for the pot brigade

they take all regardless of size be it off the boat or off the beach from an estuary or a fisheries it makes no difference them they leave nothing :censored:

this puts strain on our fish stocks and also puts hard working licenced nets men and fisheries out or business

don't let this stop you posting your exploits and showing us your photographs as this is what the site is all about but please do not be to precise on the exact location because

when you go back next time it may have been stripped of its fish

just remember this is an open forum

I know guys that run boats out of whitby I fish with one of them, he laughs when people on forums say they look at forums for tips, it's like he said do you really think after 30 years at sea I don't know where to set nets. He also said bass anglers would not go far wrong looking where there nets are set as they have more idea than most anglers.
