wirral countryman 2,110
Your dog got caught on a gate once so ypu hqve stopped usimg collats all together lol, in 10 plus years never had a problem so will stick to what works for me and everyone else I have ever met ! I've ran dogs over 40yrs and have seen a few very good dogs killed in the field,I've never ran a running dog of any sort with a collar on for that reason, broken knecks and dogs that get hung up can easilly happen, each to their own,I suppose the land you hunt may have a bearing on it as well, its personal choice at the end of the day and once seen never forgotten,WM Quote Link to post
iworkwhippets 12,516
Each to there own, but mine never wear collars Quote Link to post
Guest joball
The lads I hunt with are a lot older than me mate and all use collars. Never heard of a dog dieing using a collar, its a good idea mate for the less stronger strain of lurcher shall i say but there's no chqnce I'd be able to hold my ywo bqck with that method. I've always used that method, when I started we were mainly poaching and collars on a dog shot or caught by a keeper would have the police at your door,I've ran 85lb dogs with that method 28"-30"TTS deerhound/saluki/greyhound crosses, this method suits all sizes of dogs,WM Quote Link to post

stabba 10,745
pmsl..you set of trampy cnuts ...the odds of your dog getting caught on the collar(resulting in death) must be hundreds of thousands to 1(100,000,s) far more chance of your dog dying by other means(hitting fences, hedges, ditches and such) than the collar scenario.... get a decent fitting collar and a decent slip and you,ll not go far wrong...atb stabba 1 Quote Link to post
