Cheapest camoflauge hide ?

Recommended Posts

For a truly portable and effective hide, I use a military DPM (disruptive pattern material) basha, available online or in army surplus and mountain warehouse, with camo netting hung over the front. It's dry, doesn't rustle and you could sleep until it (the army do, and I have shot 4 days straight under that thing with gas cookers). All you need is:

  • 1 Military DPM Basha
  • 4-8 Bungie cords
  • 2 Tent Pegs
  • 1 Camo net

  1. Lie the basha out and bungie the front to two trees/fence posts.
  2. Add bungies to the rear of the basha and peg them as tight as possible like a tent sheet.
  3. Take another bungie and raise the middle of the basha to an over hanging tree or pull it towards the fence.
  4. Drape the camo net over the front of the basha. Fences are especially good for this as it gives you something to rest your rifle on.

Like Stealthy say's Natural is best (so is DPM oh thats Disruptive Pattern Markings by the way and not Material).

Natural also has the advantage of being free ;) if like me your a tightwad :haha:

I've just aquired a little bit of land thats so close to a major road its unbelievable. Checking it out the other day and the only way I can shoot at the top end is by making a hide thats not only goingto conceal me from quarry but it has to hide me from the general public driving along the road.

Natural will do very well and will change as the colours change througout the year. If I put anything up that looks alien to the environment I'll have the ARU come calling again. So I'd rather keep hidden from the public.

Yes I can call the plod and let them know where I am etc.... but if some idiot rings in a 999 "Guy with a gun next to the road" they have to respond even though they know it's me!

Nothing personal, I just don't like being wrong (But Hey! Who does? ;)) Here's a link - http://en.wikipedia....attern_Material

It's Material.

Atb, Bunny.

Try telling that to the Disruptive Pattern Marking Appreciation Society ;)

I thought it was material until I watched a documentary on Discovery or the History channel about how the markings came about during the 1st world war.

Lets face it we didn't dress ships in Material, we gave them disruptive pattern markings using paint to break up their outline to help them blend in with the sea and sky, predators such as Pike have disruptive pattern markings on them, they dont just pop down to the local army surplus to be kitted out in disruptive pattern material do they?

As I have mentioned before on the same topic, Wickies are cobbled together by anyone who has the time. They are usually correct but they are also notorious for being incorrect.

I if I so desired could quite easily change that page so that it read Markings instead of materials. ;)

As long as it's not from the seller that flogged me a 2x6 meter net it'll be good.

The one I got had a 2x6 net, with only the odd triangle of camo! They got really upset when I gave em bad feedback saying the image showed only a small area of the net. I replied "Why show only 4 inches of a 2x6 meter net"
