muratcan2011 2
Hello everyone from The Republic of Turkey, Last week was the opening day of Chukar hunting season in Turkey. We’ve gone to Sivas (1000 KM far from Istanbul where we live) for Partridge hunts. Our guide’s gun dog English Pointer gave us nice bird points. We’ve tried to hunt Chukars, Grey Partridges and Wood Pigeons also we’ve come across the foxes two times. There was a Hare (Wild rabbit) and quail but the hunter couldn’t take any shots to them. Luckily, end of the hunt our guide made a nice shot on a duck (come from nowhere). We used Armsan Phenoma Argentum semi automatic shotgun and with variety of shotshells. Moreover, we made a movie about our adventure. Approximately 15 minutes long and 5 episodes of videos will be on Arman’s Youtube Channel www.youtube.com/armsanarmtac and Facebook page www.(!64.56:886/124199120935292 We hoped all of you guys have safe and fun shooting and hunting seasons. stroller 341
Stunning video, and beautiful scenery. Is the dog false pointing or are the partridges running ahead of him? those grey partridge just dissapear into the terrain. We in Britain have very little experience of travelling quite so far for our sport. Do you have to pay to shoot or can you just turn up in those wild areas and have a days sport for free? What are your gun laws like in Turkey? We have to have a licence and it can be difficult to obtain from the police especially for the young men Have you had the dog from a pup? and is the enlish pointer a popular hunting dog in Turkey And lastly it is very sad that your country has suffered the earthquake we have seen some terrible pictures of the damage and loss of life. muratcan2011 2
@stroller, Thanks for the comment. I really loved the dog. He didn't do any false pointing. The Chukars were so suspicious. Most the time they flushed very far from us. I totally agree with you. Grey partridges are like invisible when they don't make any moves. Those areas we've gone to hunting were certain free fields where scheduled by the Government. There is only one Chukar/Pheasant outfitter in Turkey, I believe. Having a shotguns process is not so tough. Having a hunter licence is difficult. If the citizen wants to go hunting he has to have 3 things which are Shotgun Document, Hunter Licence and Hunting Stamp (It's a transaction stamp, like a tax, you pay every season two times a year). I've never had a Hunting Dog from a puppy. But our hunting friends have, we go hunting together. Yes the most popular dog is English Pointers second English Setters then Deutsch Kurzhaar. The last earthquake happened in the city named Van is 1000 miles far from Istanbul where we live. Thank you so much for your concerns. Quote Link to post
