BushPush 0
My Patterdale and jack russel bush rabbits, when they catch them,or anything for that matter even if they find a dead animals bones they eat it.Now obviously i dont mind as much if they eat fresh animals because at the end of the day thats what their bodys are built for, digesting fresh carcass. But what about bones they find and eat? can they catch any form of virus from it?they seem to eat the entire body, even the head, infact the first thing he eats is the head. welshnutter69 78
patterdale wernt bred for rabbiting...more than likely the jrt has picked it up from the patterdale
skycat 6,173
Why don't you just take the rabbits off them? Or won't they let you????????? If that is the case then you need to do some serious reversal of status training. All dogs should give up their kill or catch on command: if they don't you could have real obedience/status issues which might only get worse in future.
BushPush 0
how can a jack russell pick up bushing from the patterdale..?they chase anything that moves because its their instinct...i can get the kills off them, but they find things in the orchards and obviously i cant see them, theyve never ate a rotten animal but they do try i just get it off them and throw it somewhere they cant get it. But if youd like to answer my original question insted of giving me questions, can they catch anything off a rabbit or wood pidgeon if they eat it all. The animals are nowhere near a town. gnipper 6,411
The only thing i'd worry about them eating is rats that could possibly have eaten poison mate.
deadlyshot 25
if it was already dead i wouldn't let mine dog eat it but my dog eats every thing it kills other than mice why i cant answer that

chook1 184
Answer to your question is no - most it might give them is a jippy stomach if its not fresh, although if the animal has died from posion, then you could be in trouble. I would however keep up their worming, as they will be more prone to worms if eating fresh kills.
gnipper 6,411
I would try and get stuff off mine as quick as I could if he ate it coz continuing working on a full stomach isnt good for them.
