Buster321c 1,010
Pro Sport . One one , if not the , best spring rifle made . Reason ? give em both a try Quote Link to post
fry 209
yeah that was what i was expecting to hear buster just going on the number of 2nd hand tx s compared to the number of pro s on the market. cheers Quote Link to post
zini 1,939
Ive used Davys TX200 and shot 50 metres HFT targets with real consistancy Ive also owned a Prosport myself. Both are very nice rifles and accurate but for me the Prosport is the better rifle in my shoulder. I would have another one any day. Si Quote Link to post
fry 209
cheers zini i am getting the urge for a 177 and feel if i go for a springer it will force me to improve my shooting without a rest which i over rely on with me pcps. i will keep my eyes peeled for a 2nd hand pro. one will come up sooner or later, scope, slip an all. fry 209
ah just read another thread on here and its been stated that a 22 springer has less recoil than a 77 so your best off with a 77 pcp and a 22 springer do others feel the same? Quote Link to post
zini 1,939
Its true mate but on rifle of the Pro Sports quality you wont tell any real difference and the recoil is just a nudge in the shoulder in either calibre. Some others on here that as them or has had them will vouch for a Pro Sport im sure Festa Gurtwurz. ATB Si Quote Link to post
fry 209
thanks si atb Quote Link to post
andyfr1968 772
I've used both (never owned either though...) and for me there's no better, only different. Both properly first class springers. Just to add another slant, have you tried the Diana 54? For me it's the best steel springed rifle available, followed very closely by the 52. Quote Link to post
fry 209
not tried any spring rifles since the late eighties when i had one someone gave me with open sights that i ground down what i seem to remember was an air force main spring and crammed it in there so you could just about cock it ! would of surely been illegal now it blew the washer out in the end. i dont even remember what make it was. the reason i am thinking air arms is based on the 2 AA rifles i have now which have both been totally reliable. i am on my 3rd ford van ! dont like change haha. The Duncan 802
ah just read another thread on here and its been stated that a 22 springer has less recoil than a 77 so your best off with a 77 pcp and a 22 springer do others feel the same? i couldn't agree with you more - I still have my first pcp and it is no coincidence it is also my first .177, other than an ft tuned TX200. IMHO .22 springers go off much, much more sweetly than .177's. Duncan. Quote Link to post
The Duncan 802
PS - had a tx, but always fancied a Pro-Sport. I think they are a much better looking rifle. TBH though, I found my HW97K suited me better than the TX I had. Quote Link to post

pianoman 3,587
I would have a Pro Sport any time, any day. Air Arms never made it for us left handed riflemen until recently, that's why I have owned both the left handed TX200 .22 rifle and a .177 HC carbine for the last ten years or so. They are beautiful, superbly accurate and incredibly consistent rifles that hit what you aim them at. I wouldn't have my collection without them. But the Pro Sport has it in the looks department by a marathon mile. It is a stunningly beautiful rifle and it's as accurate as it's possble to get. Definately one on my list when I've got the cash to spare. Simon Quote Link to post
