bunnys 1,228
whin his not far from the truth here ,hancocks of 25yrs ago maybe .THE start of these dogs the base dogs rj and r r were directly from top quality lines of there types at the time plenty of dogs came out of that farm that come good for dogs of that time. The lines he keeps in some of them are bred down from those 2 studs but these siblings were never tested . Now time has moved on and evolution has given us far superior running types ,and yes maybe they have a splash of collie here and there and yes maybe some came from the farm of hancock even sleighty used the chuckles dog but he was also bred from a good hard type of working collie used for filling the pot and was also a good guard .but lets real the clock forward nudging on 212 ,pretty much any livestock breeder of whatever when breeding from average below par stock will tell to produce a handfull of average stock you have to mass produce ,wheras breeding from tried and tested stock over a period of generations will start to swing in a higher ratio of decent performer hence the great british hare coursing dogs of preban hare coursing .And yes we also have goodlines in the uk that produce high numbers of quality what i would call allrounders on edible game . THESE ANIMALS HAVE NOT COME ABOUT BY CHANCE OR LUCK BUT BY DEDICATED WORKING DOG MEN WOMEN IN THE CHOSEN FIELD OF WORK STRIVING FOR IMPROVENT WITH EACH AND EVERY GENERATION . ILLfinish my ramblings just by saying this anyone learning towards a collie type by all means BUTfind one from a line of workers from tested stock no matter where there origins yo will edge ya bets in your favour of picking something suitable atb bunnys 1 Quote Link to post
