Get a decent track retired greyhound, with good feet, where i come from Scottish borders, lots of good working leggy Border Collies, give the Farmer a bottle of Whiskey as a stud fee, look after the brood Bitch really well, and you have a Litter, that you can take a Pup from, and the others should sell no bother, no need to go near a puppy farmer.

what happens the bitch once she's reared the pups, ive always liked collie x's in the right hands the best all round workers but sensitive easily spoiled by harsh treatment

even old chalkwareen knew 25 odd years ago what they were about.

Chalkwarren himself had a couple from Hancock, what happened to them?I remember meeting Jim Tyler years ago at a game fair,he had his own airgun magazine and had been given a merle pup by plummer, loads of people have owned them, had good results with them,I wonder how many rank-and-file lurchermen down the years have worked one?Clucky from this forum had one, very, very good fox dog, took around 100 in one season but that was back in the 1990's,whats Hancocks puppy output in a year?

TBH after seeing the first one run on hares as i have always liked a lurcher that can put up a good show on hare i was never intrested in having one the lad who had this said dog however had an outstanding bitch bred in s.yorks out of a deerhound/grey back to collie/grey who on both occasions i saw it catch 3 hares funny thing about it plummer to my knowledge never mentioned it in any of his books more than likely due to the fact he was promoteing hancocks dogs at the same time giving good lurcher to lurcher bred dog the degority name bitzas.

for me it simple if am parting with my hard earnt cash for a pup, i would need to see sire working and evidence of the dam!! a pup out of none working stock (pet dogs) should be free to a good home! thats just my opinion, ex track dogs would ok for me if they proved it had raced and i would have to see the collie rounding sheep up before i parted with my £200/250!
