dymented 2,220
got to build its concordance up slow bud when you get your gun out give it a treat things like that Quote Link to post
davecooper1 1
Its going to be a long slow job mate, my mate had one couple years ago, it took him 12 months to correct it, but your dog is still young enough to put right, its not going to happen overnight mate. Dave. Quote Link to post
Duncan_642 0
Gun shy.. or gun nervous? the two are different. if its gun shy then not much will correct it and 12 months to correct a working dog is impractical in my opinion. Gun nervousness can be cured but stop using the shotgun, start with a starting pistol or similar with the help of an assistant, using open ground start 300-400 yards away and let off a shot if any reaction at all treat and reassure once there is little or no reaction slowly decrease the distance.. then start again at distance with the shotgun and repeat the process, It is difficult to asses which it is but gun shyness in inherent and gun nervousness can normally be pinned down to a traumatic incident for the dog D Quote Link to post
j316 119
feed the dog at home by unloaded airifle or shotgun so she feels safe around guns then take her out whith starting pistol at distance Quote Link to post
Rhodey 96
If it's gun shy it's no good, simple as that. Quote Link to post

To my mind that's like putting a child in front of a horror film on repeat and having the mentality of ohh they'll get used to it... Makes no sense to me Quote Link to post
