mudd dog 128
Maybe he's just not pushing threw them that extra bit !!! Has the dog got a good nose ??? I wouldn't be giving him any more hard ends tbh. If he's travelling then that's half the battle. Try dropping one up for him and waiting a few secs and then letting him in, that should do the trick and maybe he'll click that he needs to push on that bit further in the future. OldNog 432
Does he get shown on in the stop end at the end of each dig? He may have figured that he can get to have a bit of a play without doing the work. Edited October 21, 2011 by OldNog Quote Link to post

womble 1 nut 491
alright people ive got a boreder lakeland an what it is with him i carnt get him to find below ground hes had things in a stop end but he hasnt found it himself! theres not a problem with him entering hes very game! i go out with me mates an his terriers mark so we no theres deffo sumthin in there so we enter him but nothin he comes back out!!! so my mates dog finds it dig down show him an he flys at it!! anyone help me nice1 I had a bitch a few years back that was exactly the same i kept trying her till she was nearly 3 and she wouldnt change her ways, she was basically a jibber, she didnt want to find, the fact that your dog is willing at the end imo doesnt mean much alot of dogs will grow a pair when there is daylight and encourgaement close by. If i was you i wouldnt try the dog again untill you find a suitable earth, smaller the better,a two or three holer , in such a place it should find if it WANTS to, if it doesnt then questions have to be asked. at the end of the day you know the dog you should know if he is capable of using his nose,if he has no problem scenting above ground then he shouldnt have a problem below either, any way hopefully it is as others have suggested and hes just a bit slow and hasnt got the confidence to push though the tight spots.best of luck with him and lets us know how you get on womble Quote Link to post
