RossM 8,121
A blast from the past here. He would jump the garden fence do his bit and come back. 9years old in this photo my bitches grandsire done the same, open the back door, feck off over the fence and appear at the front door hours later with a rabbit or a hare, feck knows what people mustve thought as he walked past them in the street Quote Link to post
moonlighter 1,164
My 9 year old won't even catch a rabbit now, never mind a hare!! All the best to those that still can. I don't mind though as he's had a few when he was younger, and now I've got a 12 month old to take his place. Its a bit sad though when you see them age and slow down. Quote Link to post
philkemp 50
Oldest dog i sin was my mates 8 year old bitch she caught quite a few, most of them tho were took of there seat in rushes had a really good nose on her probly still would of worked till she couldnt walk but sadly hit a fence while lamping just about to take her rabbit broke her neck in 2 places really sad to see! baldockbanks courser 598
I run my bitch in a match and she wernt far off 8 against a younger bitch who wernt as good as her at all both in there prime, I was too confident in her and tried to show the fella up with my old bitch! I missed my first hare then she killed the next 3 but the match finnished 3 - 1 (best of 3) as I ran second. the hares werent brilliant that day by a long shot I admitt but the fella killed 4 in all and me 3. good coursing dogs adapted when speed diserpers but at that age I think its better to retire a dog to keep its good name in tact. walk by night 4
wasnt a hare but I was out with Tony Bowden , Joe and John Smith and Darren Gallagher when they all lived inthe Outwell area about 20yrs ago we were foxing and a fox bolts from the earth and Darrens bitch caught it she was 13 and taken just for a walk cant remember her name but she was the mother to Joe Thompsons Sniper, this was after Johns dog had jibbed Quote Link to post
