OHIO STEVE 11
As a young cockfighter years ago, an old timer told me this bit of advice...." THE BEST MEDICINE ON A ROOSTER MANS YARD IS A HATCHET" A sickly weak pup that you have to battle to keep alive has something wrong with it. Better for the individual pup and the breed as a whole to just humanely put it down. 1 Quote Link to post

Plong 21
Trouble with keeping weak sick animals is they are more likely to pick up disease and pass it to the healthy animals. Even if it survives chances are it will never make a worker as it will never be as strong when animals get a bad start to life they carry it through life. I have met vets who have tried telling me that runts can grow into normal animals but on the farms I have worked they either die or are still runts come slaughter time. Quote Link to post

sallie 67
Looking after a sick pup takes a lot of time i would have thought it best to have it checked out by a vet so that you know what you are dealing with. Quote Link to post
