what a waste of hares they dont deserve to die by the gun [im an air rifle man] and wouldnt dream of shooting a hare .most of my shooting mates refuse to shoot them so were not all murderers like some

whats the point some f****r will only find them and kill them

got permison grond very stoney they have driven shoots to keep them down around 500 are shot over 2 days

i am no expert but i think when they catch the hares for coursing events the animal is tagged with individual number and details of where caught are recorded, that hare gets a single run with greyhounds and is released again where it was found, that same animal will not be used again and allowed to breed, hence why coursing clubs help keep hared established as a species,

regarding the original topic.. I knew a place in norfolk where massive numbers of hares were shot regulary and they were left to rot, no one even came to pick them up afterwards,, I knew a shoot in Suffolk which done the same with pheasants, loads would be left there, my ferrets were gratefull but still didn't make it right.

Pre-ban there were estates where hares were netted in their hundreds year after year and moved to more favourable land as breeding stock  the Hares were there in numbers without fail, numbers recovered every year. The reason being like rabbits they breed according to how much food is available to them  any doubt? think back to last winter rabbit were decimated by the snow but so far there's plenty about this season.

So these estates shooting hares thats how they manage to shoot so many year after year

some areas never recover leevy if not managed , as you say ,met guys at waterloo cup and were willing t pay 40 euros for good winter hares ,live and deliverd this was years back ,it was anice proposition but was to busy doing other things but if i had lots of land i would re stock and heavy pest control to keep numbers [bANNED TEXT] plant cover game cropetc on the edges of hedges etc
