declining brown hare

the big hare drives and shoots on estates doesnt help when they are shot in theyre hundreds.

 

shooter's/wankers running leverets, farming to day, the hunting act, as farmers don't need or want them on their land anymore as they are not getting the money in from coursing clubs, then the big hare shoots every year..,,

 

But read any paper and it all down to us with dogs, got f**k all to do with some fat c**ts standing in a line shooting 300-500 a day!!

And how long has that been going on??????????

In Conservation, hares are classed as "LC"; (least concern). They are still considered to be big enough a pest for hare drives to shoot thousands every year, with no reported noticable drop in numbers shot each year. There used to be hares everywhere around me, but now they aren't there, but travel 10-20 miles and there is any amount !! I'm not sure why, but coursing and killing them during the summer, and killing leverets, by lads who only go local, has to be a big factor.I go to the same area every year, and it is relativly un-poached, and when beating for the pheasant shoot, seem to see more hares each season. Poaching, coursing, etc is obviously not the only'main reason for hare decline in some areas... farming methods, loss of habitat, pesticides, etc also take their toll of the hare, but in some areas, they are thriving.

Badgers eat do the most damage here, when ever you see ripped up birds, hares or rabbits you can bet you'll find badger footprints, they will eat anything.

theres only one thing thats f*****g the hare population up and thats the same thing thats f*****g the deer and fox population up, GUNS. i remember when the ban came in and hunting with dogs changed to rats and rabbits the local butchers and game dealers had more head shot hares in them than i can ever remember seeing.

According to the Game & Wildlife Conservation Trust (and other conservation organisations), the big decline in Brown Hare numbers started in the late 1950's early 60's, due mostly to the reduction in agricultural diversity through intensified farming methods.

 

Nationally, Brown Hare have been increasing since the 1980's and the introduction of agri-environment schemes (the increase has continued since the ban). This trend applies to Roe too.

 

So overall, neither the Hare or Deer populations of the UK can be said to be f***ed up by GUNS, so please can we all stop blaming each other. The antis out there must love it when they read such negative and false remarks made by one fieldsportsman about another.

I know a few farms where they shoot all hares to stop twats driving their fields at night after them, no game=no lampers driving your crops. Simple.

 

I don't think it has anything to do with fox No.'s as since the ban there are far more foxes being shot than ever before.

i think your right they do it were im from clear the hares stops the lampers/coursers plus lots of little shoots knows first job clear the hares its a shame on the hares but sign of the times we add the keepers just sit thee and watch us walk the fields then come up to us and say did you get ya runs lads .knownin we hadnt then say wev been told to clear em so then you no its a waste of time goin back

A few days ago I was with a friend travelling up the A1 to buy some fowl, how many did we count from the A1 which is a good place to spot wildlife? None.

 

As I travelled back south and nearer my county I lost count of the amount of hares, to be honest I was fed up of counting them!

 

Not seen any decline what so ever here.

of course reinstate it under licence like salmon fishing lobster catching gover ment get money guys get there sport

 

Whin if the Goverment said to Course Hares or Hunt Foxes you had to have Landowners Permission and a Hunting Licence surely thats better than where we are at.

Surely it would also be better for the Hare the Fox as it would be managed more efficently.#

 

Say the Goverment charged 25-35 pounds per year for a Hunting Licence that generates a Healthy sum.

 

All the Coursing Clubs would reform creating Jobs and protecting the Hare in the Process.

Same for Hunting.

 

Its a Win Win situation.

 

Habitat.

Hares.

Foxes,

Jobs.

More money for Goverment in the Coffers.

Kids Off Streets.

 

I could go on, we know it makes sense can those in Power work it out.

 

I doubt it.

And you think that would put an end to folk poaching do you......
