Nowt illegal about shooting hares. typical response from a shooter im all right jack f**k everyone else so much to all hunters sticking together I wouldn't bum your gums to quick since theres another thread going where some folk find it ok to throw there hares in the ditch and piss off home with a smile on there f*****g face.... I know its a bit illegal to shoot birds and each other mate,i meant in an ideal world we could organise a cull of buzzards and mass suicide of shooters, some laws are made to be broken you know. You seem to like quoting hares are £3 each, whats a pheasant on shoot day now,£30? cheaper to leave some ground game to keep the lads happy i rekon. Quote Link to post

masmiffy 82
Pheasants are around £30 to shoot on a 'paid for day' but game dealers pay less than £1 a brace for the dead birds! We get £1 for frozen rabbits £3 for hares and 40p for pigeons only cost on them is the ammo! Mind that is getting more expensive every trip to the shop!! Have given up ferreting so the rifle is the only way I got that I can keep the numbers down with and keep my permissions! Quote Link to post

And you think its ok to go and f**k someone over finacially because you cant get your sport?...Well if you piss folk off like that then fall outs will happen and its always the dog that takes the brunt 1 night..... 1 Quote Link to post

Yea pheasants arent arent worth transporting to the dealers, thats why a lot get buried after shoot day,see above, hares being thrown under hedges, lets not have no double standards. "Have given up ferreting,so the rifle is the only way i got that i can keep the numbers downwith and keep my permission" That statement makes as much sense as Harry Hill mate, you insinuate you only shoot to keep your permission to shoot as all you do is shoot I dont know one shooter who enjoys missing his target,on the other hand i know plenty of lurcher lads that doff their cap to a good hare that beats their dog,the sports in the course not the kill, theres only one thing in using a rifle,a kill. For me, and I'm sure the vast majority of rifle shooters, the most satisfying part is the stalk, getting into range for a safe, humane shot, preferably without the quarry even knowing I'm there. Anyone who's done any ammount of shooting, should know that even with Rabbits, if you just walk around any old fashion, you won't be that successful. Using a rifle requires a certain ammount of skill before you even think about a shot. I'm not arguing the rifle versus lurcher thing here either. I consider mself very fortunate, in that I had the opportunity to run Hares legally, for more years than a lot of people on here have been alive, and my most memorable and enjoyable courses by any of my Dogs, were almost always the ones which ended with the quarry escaping unharmed. Ignorance can be borne from many things, most usually a lack of experience in a subject . The real problems start when people believe all they read/hear. 1 Quote Link to post
boyo 1,398
if anyone wants to know why hares are declining they need look no further than the alcar estate where the waterloo cup was run it was always heaving and alive with hares even with poachers having the odd run but since the ban they have been shot and now theres hardly any on there compared to how it was pre ban .my sons neighbour is a top spaniel and lab man and was inviterd on a hare shoot. he packed in at midday and said he could not stomach it any longer as the belgium shooting party were shooting them where they lay if given the chance .now this sounds as if ime having a go at shooting which ime not because at the end of the day each to their own .i dont agree or like it but would never say they shouldnt be allowed to do their sport but imo this and things like it have a huge signifecence on the hare population of this country .
