According to the Game & Wildlife Conservation Trust (and other conservation organisations), the big decline in Brown Hare numbers started in the late 1950's early 60's, due mostly to the reduction

the big hare drives and shoots on estates doesnt help when they are shot in theyre hundreds.

overshooting, changing farming practice, increases in fox, badger and buzzard and too many lads running them, game dealers paying £5 a head for them, what the hell is in their favour.

i'd say myself I've seen a big drop in hares, but unless your at an area 24/7 observing what is happening will never know if it's foxes killing them off or something else, might just be a stiffer natural selection due to the way the seasons are going, especially if we have hard frost and snow again.

changing farming habbits/climate im affraid, horses for courses animals will live where it suites them best and will travel to find that place, also they become wise to clockwork predators who arrive the same time each day/night :whistling:

talkin about hares who actauly enjoys a hare caserole with dumplings etc or hare pasoly a mexican dish , as all i hear is hunt kil but fech all getting eaten etc

i doubt most even make it out of the field never mind into a kitchen, unless carrying a gun wouldnt be a good idea to be seen carring one. imo.

mind i know this tree where you can find one or two hanging around on a morning stroll :whistling:

I know a few farms where they shoot all hares to stop twats driving their fields at night after them, no game=no lampers driving your crops. Simple.

I don't think it has anything to do with fox No.'s as since the ban there are far more foxes being shot than ever before.
