grovsey 74 Posted October 18, 2011 Report Share Posted October 18, 2011 thatd be good thnks wos just wondering how u get [bANNED TEXT] piping so neat? i can never seem to get it neat. tried glewing and cross stitching and no success to speak of would u mind telling me the method u use and do u have any tips for this? also cud u tell me how u finish youre hoods to a gloss like you do? look well smart cheers atb you can use glue if u want so what u do is get ur thin leather and fold it in half and glue it together then apply contact glue to both surfaces and let it dry then stick together or stich ( my way) what have to punch the holes in the hood leather like u do when attaching the side panels to the center panel,but dont put holes in the pipping ,there is a dvd by ron rollins that is a god send to buy and worth getting mate. the shine is put on after burnishing with a wooden dowel or as i used a persex one (both as good) and then put a few coats of sadlee lac i used to get all my gear from leprevo www.leprevo.co.uk ian Quote Link to post

magus69 0 Posted October 19, 2011 Report Share Posted October 19, 2011 Some excellent work there fellas!!.The only hoods I ever made were for my Sakers and they were of the one piece type.Unfortunately I gave up falconry and hawking many years ago but somewhere I still have a hood I made if I can find it and work out how I'll post a pic,it was functional but no where near the league of those already shown,well done chaps.
