hi all the company i work for now has just added an extra shift now.

it used to be

 

wed,thurs,fri and saturday off then sun,mon,tues

 

now we have to work right through all 12 hour shifts. so now we have

to work 7 days on and a week off then 7 nights on and a week off.

 

an 84 hour week not good

you signed that working time regs thing , i think its anything over 40 or so hours , you have to sign saying your willing to work that many ect ,

thats shait !

 

I know some blokes who work 3weeks 12hours and then get 18days off. theres pros n cons to that i suppose.

 

But i would much rather your old shift pattern

i work 5 days two nights 12 hour shifts then have 5 days off then 2 days 5 nights and have 2 days off all 12 hour shifts

i work 3 days of 12 hour shifts ( 36 hours) . but lately because of night shift i have done stupid shifts such as 8am till 3pm which sould be 8-8 days , but them im going home at 3pm and coming back to do th 8 - 8 night shift , staffing levels are how can i put it shite ,

Im hopefully starting a job next week thats 5 days doing 12 hours shifts, the weekend off then the same all over again. I think they're expecting a few immigrants as the cheeky bitch on the phone asked me if i was allowed to work in the uk and wether i had a visa or something. Joe

 

Thats the new regulations regarding illegal immigrants.I guy at work took early retirement in november last year after 44 years service.He has just started back for 10 weeks, to help complete a big order,and he had to bring his passport in to prove he wasn`t an illegal immigrant! .You couldn`t make it up

I do 2 days, 2 nights 4 off, with 18 days off 5 times a year and I f*****g love it, loads of time off to do whatever I please, jobs crap mind, but the time off is excellent.

 

But if you want an example of long hours, what about this. The farm where we get our chicken carcasses, there's a bloke works 75 hours every week, he works Mon to Sat and he says "I get Sundays off, well except for nipping in for two hours to feed up" He nearly bloody lives there and every time we go to pick some chicken up, he's ALWAYS smiling, he just must love having his hand up a chicken's arse.

84 hours is the norm when you do the shutdowns, 3, 4 or 5 weeks straight through.

mind you I only work 3 days a week from sept til xmas.

no more hours for me finished at 38 and they can stuff work, the more you work the more you pay,bloody hell though up to then 90 hrs a week was proberly average,idont rely on any handouts and my life is fantastic and i do what i want

i work 37.5 hours a week. wish i could survive off writing but its not feasable yet. if i didnt have a mortgage things would be different i guess....lol....
