bird 9,984
Has great mooch today, had i nice good walk. The wife went for sunday lunch with her Dad +sister, so i had good mooch about for couple hours. As you prob know Tod had good bang last sat, so was just really see how Tod is getting on. He does seem to be coming on ok, but am taking it easy with im. Went down a lane by me, which as rough ground there. It got thick brambles+gorse all along the edges. Bryn as ive said many times, will work thick cover like terrier+springer, lots of lads have seen him do it from of the sites, he getts right in a you dont see him ,just see the cover move. Ive never seen a lurcher do what he does, his nose is 100% he is brill in the day. So he marks this thick gorse, then he goes in. Now Tod as learned that when Bryn is in there, that a bird or rabbit will come out. We both were watching, when a rabbit shot out 15 yds to my left, Tod was like a feckin rocket. He it like a bomb going off lol, he is do or die young dog. Another shot out by me, but made it back in the edge. Bryn had come out now and marked it again , and he hadnt seen it so it was brill that he found where it had gone .These 2 are brill team in the day, and Tod is getting good in the lamp, maybe not as good as Bryn, but Bryn is a hard act to follow. Tod seems ok with his shoulder, but still taking it easy with him. Few pics in the garden playing with there rope toy lol. Ray 1 Quote Link to post

wuyang 513
Good to hear tod is on the mend. I used to work a lot of gorse years ago, but i try to avoid it now due to two of my dogs getting eye injuries from it, one luckily cleared just with some cream, but the other need an opp to remove the thorn. I think some collies love to bush, my long gone full border collie bitch was the best bushing dog i have owned. How do you find tod at using his nose? Quote Link to post

Thanks On to Tod, your right on collie thing Bryn 1x collie grey, and he as the same drive to mark+go in cover like pure collies. Tod is getting good with is nose, he as marked few rabbits. But as you prob know with Bryn, any dog that ive been out with and few from on here , they all let Bryn do the work (marking+going in cover ). Tod wont go in like Bryn, but most dog dont that ive seen, Tod will go in on the chase , so i am happy with that.! Quote Link to post

Scallywag 78
I love outings like that. Bryn sounds like a fantastic dog - does it all! I spent a happy couple of hours out with Chook today - one terrier, five lurchers and a deerhound. We turfed out all the corners for bunnies and the dogs came home very happy. Quote Link to post
