New stock 85 Sako

Recommended Posts

I am thinking of changeing the nasty plastic feel stock that Sako fit to some of there 85 rifles. If you hold the butt firm ish it creaks like an old door.

The gun shoots ok just feels a bit nasty . I have only just started to look around so early days yet, I have just been on the Bell and Carlson site and they have a intresting one on there with a adjustable block that they say tunes the point of contact between the stock and the barral.

There is a clip on u tube showing it being tuned it looks good what do you think?. How many different companys do good aftermarket stocks to fit the 85 ?. The rifle is used for hunting fox mostly I hand load and want the best I can get out of my rifle. Any help or if you have a stock what do you think of it ?. Cheers

Very nice, I dont supose yours is the one with the sliding block in the front end that works as a barral tuner . Also where did you buy it from if you dont mind me asking . Also post above 3/4" at 100 yds is a lot bigger at 300 plus so the better I can get it even a small amount within reason is good thing . I know its not going to be a bench rest rifle but every bit helps.

Why dont you do a skim bedding job and also fettle the trigger a bit, the 85 action is quiet a good one to start with.

Have a look on ebay for stocks, also check out ukvarminting ukfullbore and uklongrange for stocks as they do pop up every now and then, or stick a post up wanting a stock.
