bigbulls 26
Long story short......... A lake of roughly an acre and a bit and very deep, its a very old stone quarry. It has a flowing outlet that moves at a steady rate but hardly charging. would it be possible to use some sort of small turbine or such to generate enough power to pump water at low pressure through 20mm pipe and lift it up hill 100meters to a water trough for cattle. ? JohnGalway 1,043
Look up Ram pumps on YouTube. May or may not do the distance/lift you require, am not too knowledgeable about them, but you can make them yourself fairly cheap.

stealthy1 3,964
If you can let enough water out constantly to turn a water wheel that then powers a water pump then its possible
bigbulls 26
If you can let enough water out constantly to turn a water wheel that then powers a water pump then its possible It has a constant outflow but its only steady and the wheel would have to be under shot, Im not sue if a small wheel could generate the lift we would need as it is a hell of a steep hill we need to lift the water up. bigbulls 26
I will get a couple of pics of the place and put up, its easier than trying to explain the logistics of the set up and im sure we have the brains somewhere on THL to give the equations that apply to such a project.
