max abell 196
We tried a few burys in a valley we ferreted last year with good success but turned out to be a waste of time we managed 6 but even they didn't look that clever spoke to a lady on a horse she then confermed our suspicions 3 weeks earlier the valley had mixy rabbits and dead carcasses laying everywhere going to try another place next week hopefully we get there before the dreaded mixy Has anyone else got bad mixy on there ground this season ?? Leeview 791
Up in the Dales we were knocking rabbits on the head, just walking up to them literally, but it was nt like the usual mixy no swollen eyes or anus, their eyes were closed though and they all had a darker coat about 3" down their backs and lighter coloured flanks :hmm:and lightweight in the body The following weeks visit very few rabbits about but no carcases either, very strange then last week there was plenty of healthy rabbits about as though they had got over the condition Rabbits do come off of the moor to feed on better pastures and may of repopulated the warrens IMHO but very strange not finding at least some carcases, this is a heavily keepered estate and foxes would nt of cleaned them up because there is nt any, I've seen 2 fox carcases in over 20yrs on this place and thats the only sign I have seen of them Hope your season picks up Max Y.I.S Leeview Quote Link to post
AndyKelly 251
all the worry of mixy - it comes,it goes .and there is always rabbits left to run around! there will be bunnys causing havoc long after im dead and buried. agree that they seem to be recovering quicker from mixy these days but annoyed that ferreters will not pick up rabbit carcasses that have mixy or have been shot and left - we all need to look after the ground we ferret. i always make sure i take a spare bag and get rid.
