boyo 1,398
nice read whin agree totally about keepered land theres an estate not to far away that was alive with game when there were 2 keepers looking after it. took some big numbers of it years ago also got chased many times and locked up once now you can go on there without to much hassle but complete waste of time since the shoots and keepers finished hardly any game on there at all in fact not really worth the short drive and walk around there . Penda 3,341
I agree totally with you whin i think its a mixture of alot of things i used to lamp alot of hares pre ban and me and me mate used to hit this 1 spot every friday and we would have 2 or 3 hare a time off there then after a while a couple of lads got the shooting rites on there they shot everything off the land not a feather or fur is left on the land real shame used to have some good nights on there over lamping does affect alot of areas and i was always taught never batter a good spot or youll have nothing to run eventually you cant tell some people this they lamp willy nilly with out a clue then when theyve raved it up theyve got no where to go Quote Link to post

FUJI 17,288
youre [bANNED TEXT] guys ,lamping fecgs good land if over done If it's clueless feckwits then i agree Whin but if you have some knowledge about the game then it's a different story imo? I've been lucky enough that pre-ban i ran land which gave up numerous hares each and every season and in that i mean many hundreds!! By early January each and every year by ritual i left them at peace..the following winter the numbers were just the same if not more..i took almost the same amount every year for 20+ years until the ban came into effect..perhaps you could say i keepered the land with good effect lol .ATB Andy. bendrover 556
lamps buzzards badgers stoats ,lack of cover, heavily chased all will be the down fall of the hare in some areas bendrover , shame realy agreed whin, but as you know.we have it in our own hands to help the hare(pre ban)inferior dogs killing numbers of the countries finest athlete when they would struggle to bend a winter hare.lads who havnt the bottle to go daytime after the light mornings have past and the long ear has a few frosty nights on his back.and for those who will say their dogs could do it daylight.save your breath, its definately true this ban has done jack shit for the welfare of old puss.go ahead talk the talk shoot me down, who gives a monkeys. whin 463
its not in our hands but everybodys farmers keepers hunters before the ban i took a qouta localy then left them be ,you didnt get so many people traveling but now you get all and sundrie to cacth a hare in a big feild most who are not true sportsmen at times as well they dont live in the area they hunt , its the people who hunt them who can make a change or people who look after them ,heard guys hunting them in may once march comes im out of it other jobs to do , its funny how true country men no the land the game but passers byes or have a goes just kill and move on ,it will be the demise of old puss , i know great land deviod at times when realy they should be a pair in every feild , beter they cull the vermin leave dead strips odd bit of setside the better Quote Link to post
