im amazed because its in our gun club rules that they provide the coursing of hares with dogs on slips when the hares are in season

 

The club could allow Cocaine at the Christmas party, but it wouldn't make it legal . There never was a history of coursing with lurchers in Ireland, so it was never provided for or looked for under the law. A lot of guys assume or assumed because it was allowed under british law until the ban, that it was okay in Ireland because there's no ban. Organised coursing was always a huge sport in Ireland, with very large clubs in every parish throughout the last century.

 

The rules of law were drawn up with the approval of the coursing clubs to stop any members from getting in a few sneaky courses for themselves during the week. Parish gun clubs and coursing clubs were often one and the same. There never was a provision for anyone to get out and kill a few Hares for themselves. They never considered that anyone wouldn't be part of the parish club.

Here is an extract from the wildlife act 1976 regarding the hunting and coursing of hares in ireland.

 

 

(2) The Minister may grant to the master or other person having charge for the time being of a pack of beagles or harriers a licence to hunt hares in any district or districts specified in the licence with that pack on such day or days (being a day or days which are not specified in a hares order) as are both specified in the licence and are in the year in which the licence is granted.

(3) The Minister may, on an application made by any coursing club which is affiliated to the Irish Coursing Club, grant to the applicant a licence to hold, on such day or days (being a day or days which are not specified in a hares order) as are both specified in the licence and are in the year in which the licence is granted, regulated coursing matches.

just found out who one of the cops was that caught these lads hes from my area and hes into coursing with greyhounds and was hell bent on catching these lads

Not involved in coursing really, my friends won the Oaks at Clonmel this year and I go every year to Clonmel. Terriers, lurchers and beagles are more my thing.

But you have to try and help retards like yourself and the Simple brothers where possible,

Nope, I said I would meet any of the 3 brothers and rumble for cash, knock out or tap out rules with a ref we could all agree on( I'd have staked a 1,000 euro but if they lost, they were to give it their side to the wife and kids of a guy that killed himself).
