beargrylls 1
long story short i asked the OH to get me a owl or magpie decoy on her way home, she came home with a Peregrine Falcon Decoy reason for wanting a decoy is im going with a freind tommorw to try get rid of some magys on his perrmission, just wondering how they will react to the peregrine if i used it? will they clear off (not what i want) of will they attack it? it makes me wonder as when we have been to BOP shows ive seen crows mobbing even the large hawks. thanks in advance sorry its in the wrong section just thought i might get better advice here Edited October 14, 2011 by beargrylls Quote Link to post
Millet 4,497
There's not many bird's that will mob a peri..they are more than likely going to fly a million mph in the opposite direction.. ..but for best result's you are better getting one of them kite jobbies that are used for scaring feral pigeon's out of people's garden's. paulus 26
years ago i was flying a peregrine at young rooks and came across a group of young maggies that had just left nest, they saw the peregrin coming over the top of them and darted into a big blackthorn bush no amount of bashing this bush would make them come out i even climbed in and grabbed one, clever little feckers they are Quote Link to post

jasper65 6
Remember a old Falconer telling me many years ago how they put a Tiercel Peregrine over a small copse which held some magpies, a few lads walked the wood to push the Magies out of the other end while the tiercel waited on, it turned out there was two at the start but by the time they reached the end one could only be found, this Magpie had been pushed into a small hawthorn at the edge of the copse, I remember him telling me even with some men under the tree virtually poking it with sticks the bird still wouldn't flush, the strangest thing he told me is the magpie seemed to vent its frustration on itself plucking small feathers out of its thighs. the bird was finally flushed and taken by the tiercel, the Maggie which disapeared was thought to have hidden down a Rabbit hole. I don't think we credit some of these birds with enough inteligence expecially the corvid family! perhaps I'm getting soft in my age as the story these days makes me feel a little sad for the magpie which was taken .... PS. Meant to say Bear? I brought some of your Bear Grylls survivor trousers the other week, the first two pairs needed to go back for one thing and another until today the missus finally got a pair thats ok, Third time lucky so to speak . Any chance of gifting me a pair Bear as a gesture of good will? Quote Link to post
