BenjaminCadd 109
People probably wont like this and pick fault / slag me off, but my way of getting a ferret to stop biting is: Put on a leather glove, when the ferret goes to bite you, quickly put your fist / hand / thumb / or even a tennis ball down its mouth and force it down till it gags! Once or twice it will get the hint Biting hands hurts them more than us and whos the boss! harsh i no but it works and biting will be overcome within a day or two! Quote Link to post
barry lurcher 27
well its been said [bANNED TEXT] say it again u cannot handle these things enough bring them in let em have a run about , i am a firm believer in hand feeding em when young for a few months time consuming yes, but it pays off!. even older ones get little chunks off me , they know the difference between the hand and meat !. of course if a ferret been harrased by say a f*****g cat all nite then u might get a nip from the little fellow when u pick him up but u cannot blame them in these circumstances. { please dont f*****g bring up those cat killing ferrets lads again !!!!!!!!!! [especially u scothunter } ps i dont do the fingers down the throat no more it does more harm than good ,gaining there trust is the name of the game 1 Quote Link to post

ferret100 47
If your Mrs usually handled the jill with no probs, then who knows?! If she recently just started handling her, a strange scent may be an issue? Animals pick up on hormones too....you know, womans monthly troubles Females together can always cause problems when hormones are high Could be a number of issues, confidence being the most important! Would be great if you gave a bit more detail about it all? Ferts don't tend to bite without a reason, is fert drawing blood? Excited/full of energy when Mrs handles her etc? Don't think knocking the jill on the head is appropriate....just try to find why she is nippy? Quote Link to post

Tbh, I only have one ferret that I could trust not to give a cheeky nip to people who aren't used to handling ferts or a bit nervous of them. Hopefully it was just a one-off with your jill. Best of luck with her and your missus anyway! Quote Link to post
