I remember the one in germany and that was two pit bulls killed the lad on a school feild, what i was trying to get at is im sure there was a case a while back about a child being killed by a rottie in a pub beer garden how many have a breed got to kill before they are deemed DANGEROUS.................

one child or person losing their life to any dog is terrable. its always the bull type that gets the shit though. that little girl was the first to be killed by a pb type or so i belive in this country. wonder how many have bein killed by other types, german sheperds, rotts, dobermans and the list could go on :hmm:

I think the emphasis was on pit bull types as its a type banned by the DDA. As much as every dog is covered by the act, the banned breeds, in this case the Pit Bull was responsible for the death of a child, if the act had worked the dog wouldnt of been here and the child would be alive now.

I see what your saying dawn but why is it that other breeds such as rotties, GSD, dobermans and the like are not banned when they kill or maime.

Is it like i said that there are more of them to deal with or because they are regestered with the kennel club..

DDA was poorly drafted and a total rush job. As a 'pit bull type' doesn't define a specific breed you're pretty much f****d if the ArsePCA decide that you've got a pit bull type.

Dogs are bred down wolves. They shouldn't be left alone with kids. Any breed. The image of the PBT is largely due to those macho wankers that own/owned them. I mean FFS anyone wearing a baseball cap, seen with a bull breed, should be shot on site. Never mind muzzling the dogs how about neutering the f*****g Reebok Classic wearing owners?

A revision of the DDA would see more breeds included, I reckon.

I think its because of the damage they do when they do attack. Dont forget when the Rotties killed that baby not long ago, they wanted them added to the banned list. I dont think the KC have anything at all to do with it to be honest, in fact they stood up for the Pit Bull and SBT types regarding all this trouble, saying the owners should be punished and not the dogs.

Statistics show the Pit Bull and that "type" of dog is responsible for the most serious attacks and deaths on people across the world, probably just due to the fact they are incredibly powerful, however there are serious doubts about the temperaments on many of these dogs here I believe, as why do they behave so aggressively when they escape, especially towards humans? Maybe it is down to the owners, maybe its the dogs being what they are and are quick to switch on when they become excited about something.

Like with most statistics these are flawed. Over the last decade and a half many countries have attempted to compile a conclusive list of statistics involving specific breeds of dogs involved in serious and fatal attacks. Any decent veterinary body would warn against such data as it's insignificant when compared to the background of the people that actually own the dogs and general level of ignorance of the high profile 'dangerous' breeds. As a result these types of dogs are battered with a different kind of stick. They're demonised in the media and as a result misrepresented and the resulting statistics concentrate on these breeds and tend to disregard everything else. Fact is dogs are bred down wolves and any dog can be quick to switch on when over excited. Powerful dogs can cause a lot more damage than smaller ones but the same measure can be used right across the animal kingdom.

Taking the UK aside it's been demonstrated quite extensively that the breed of dog can be mis-identified right the way along the chain. The public report the dog as a 'pit bull'. The police react to what they think is a 'pit bull'. Even the vets identify them as 'pit bulls' because the common denominator is that they're not breed experts and are living of the media frenzy that surrounds these breeds. Again do these statistics differentiate? 2 people on the documentary were reunited with their pets because they weren't a danger. Joe public saw a pit bull. Police responded. Media reported... look how much money was wasted there.

Look how hunting dogs are treated compared to pets. How many people here let their animals roam free? How many people here would leave their kids unattended whilst in the company of the family dog? How many people here use their dog as a status symbol to intimidate the general public?

Bottom line is that there are many different dogs but two kinds of handlers. Responsible and irresponsible. Demonising a particular breed is flawed. Dogs are domesticated wolves the sooner pet owners realise this the less likely these horrors will happen. Any responsible owner will know that neglecting a pack animal will cause behavioural problems, is that nature or nurture? It's just a shame that bull breeds are the ones with the wankers walking them round the local parks. When the fashion changes so will the statistically more dangerous breed. In the mean time anyone can breed a litter of staffs and charge £400 a pup.

The statistics are there they're just flawed statistics.

Then post em up and lets have a bit of perspective on the whole issue because from what i have seen when it comes to dog attacks and fatalities on humans( from dog attacks )in this country Bull breeds are way down the list 'FACT' so when someone trys to tell me otherwise then i would like to see where they have produced these so called facts from
