morton 5,368
who said it was a gud'un?, i couldnt tell you i never saw it work, i said it looked a nice dog, and that its face was marked from top to bottom so its obviously working what the lad intended it for, no? It most likely got marked up chewing on a metal dustbin, because all G/danes are good for is eating, sleeping, shi**ing and taking trips to the vets to sort out their numerous genetic problems,as a cross in lurcher breeding they give nothing worthwhile. forest of dean redneck 11,707
i used to have a staff that looked like it was used on fox or dog fighting, when really it was kennel fights with my lurcher. just because its marked dont mean its a worker. Quote Link to post

Ideation 8,216
WHile i agree with all that has been said, i am still at a loss to why it seems to work in Oz? What is the difference between the danes here and out there? Quote Link to post

Guest born to run1083
maybe you should get to bed old boy youre getting crabby. i have no reason to lie about it there are a very small majority out there that only hunt boar in this country and that's there only quarry. I know of a few my self, like you said there a common x in oz for boar so not surprised that people havnt gave it a go over here. all tho chart you are right the Danes over here arnt the same but if they use there brains and get an import like the saluki lads do it might work out. this topic is daft really as for most of us it's speculation, and the dreaded ASSUMTIONS the only ones who can reallly comment on ability are the ones who own the x over here and work them lol Quote Link to post

santoro 1
I saw an awesome looking lurcher tied up outside a shop,It was a beast and it had a great looking head looked like it could be handy for allsorts of things but I couldnt quite pick out the cross,at first I thought it mite be some sort of suluki/bull kind but wasnt sure so I waited untill the owner turned up and aked him,he said it was dane/bullgrey and not to get excited as it couldnt run or turn for shit,he just liked how it looked and never worked it. . . . .Shame,it looked a f*****g weapon! taff1969 1
i had a daniff a while ago and it was a real weapon of destruction when had the chance, not much slower than my ex track greyhound and no health problems while i had him, maybe a fluke or the mastiff maybe diluted the danes health problems Quote Link to post
mid.land.err 30
i dont see why not try this cross to be fair, its not my ideal choice but the great dane is made of mastiff breeds and wolfhounds many years ago, iv never seen one kill anything i know there are guard dogs and can shift too but lets be honest how many of you have seen geniun bull blood working?
