Adam said he was feeling lonely, because he didn't have anyone to talk to. So God told Adam he would create a companion for him. God said, "This person will gather food for you, cook for you, and wash clothes for you. ('What are clothes? asked Adam. 'We'll talk about that another day', said God.) She will bear your children, but never ask you to get up in the middle of the night when they cry. She will always love you, she won't nag you, and she'll always agree with whatever you say.' Adam liked the sound of this, and asked God, 'What will a companion like this cost?' 'An arm and a leg', replied God. Adam thought for a moment then asked, 'Well, what could I get for just a rib?'
