Guest The Big Fish
Just wondering of those that make thier own longents, how many knit the mesh so the net hangs square, rather than diagonal? To explain exactly what i mean i have illustrated a couple of cheesy diagrams Square mesh diagram: Diagonal mesh diagram (typical machine made type): Quote Link to post
OldTrapCollector 377
Fish, I have always knitted diagonal meshes but I thought that the early trammels had the larger windows of square mesh (?) I would think the net would handle better with extra bagging if the net was diagonal rather than square as it would bunch up so much easier, rather than ending up like a tennis net. DUCKWING 302
WELL LADS , IVE MADE QUITE A FEW TRAMMELS FOR LADS , AND A FEW FOR THE FISH MYSELF ...... ALWAYS USED THE SQUARE MESH ON THE LARGE MESH , AS FOR THE SMALL MESH I CANNOT SEE THE ADVANTAGE OF HAVING SQUARE RUN MESH ........ AS THE WHOLE POINT IS TO HAVE THE GAME PUSH THROUGH INTO THE PURSE OF THE SQUARE.......... PERSONALLY , I ONLY KNIT SQUARE FOR THE LIKES OF HARE / PARTRIDGE ETC , ETC NETS , WHICH ARE DEEP ALL THE BEST DUCKWING Quote Link to post
