jackg 7
Can someone tell me the height from the branch to set them and the size of the snare as well please. I have set up a length of plastic 4" pipe on a piece of Hazel in a garden to lure the squirrels with hazelnuts and they are taking them but I am not too clear of the height to which to set the snares. I have read 4" to the bottom of the snare, which seems a lot. thanks Edited October 11, 2011 by jackg Quote Link to post
NextGenerationTrapper 1
it could be right seeing as squirrels bound when they move I'm not to sure but it sounds plausible Quote Link to post
TOMO 27,387
think it depends on the pole your snaring on,, if its a thin pole it needs to be lower ,, if its a wide pole then higher,,, this is cos the squirrel is running along the top rather than clinging on to the sides. i must point out,, ive not tried it ,, just remember reading somthing g waters had written about it.. good luck Quote Link to post
jackg 7
I had a look on youtube videos and people seem to set them about an inch form the top of the branch and use a beer can as a former to size the snare loop, so I used that which makes it 4" to the top of the snare loop. I set three snares on a horizontal length of hazel which is 3"Ø. So I'll see if they work. Edited October 12, 2011 by jackg Quote Link to post
