rob190364 2,594
sensible if nothing else.....retiring at the age of 30, unhurt with millions in the bank......can't argue with that!

Although I reckon give him a few years of parting and blowing his dough and he will be back out of retirement!!!

Plong 21
Good fighter, just way too small for the modern heavyweight division, should have stayed at cruiserweight but the money is know where near heavyweight money.

gnasher16 30,163
I never like to have a pop at a fighter but Haye has gone right down in my estimations.....just approaching his peak,at the top of his division......he,s treated the sport thats made him rich very badly......would he be retiring at 31 if he was still a cruiserweight,of course he wouldnt.....nobody likes to see a man walk in and exploit the sport thats been so good to some and so cruel to others....to David Haye the sports been very good he,s never been in any real ring wars, has made a lot of money on limited ability at heavyweight.....it certainly leaves a sour taste in the mouth of ex fighters when you see a man give up on what most of us crave, for me Haye is not a true sportsman and seems to have very little competetive spirit......ok if an injury forces retirement, capabilities or plain wear and tear thats fine..............but to walk away with plenty left in the tank just because you are financially secure will always leave a sour taste in the mouth of folk who have been in there,at any level.
the_stig 6,614
with you on that one gnash --- when you look at fighters that have made the money and carried on for the glory .. was at a do a few year back fund raiser for paul ingle -- he was one of my favourate fighters one of the fellas that ended up on the wrong end of boxing .. gnasher16 30,163
Yep thats the difference between true fighters like Ingle,Watson,Rod Douglas and the like whos lives have been destroyed yet would do it all over again and give anything to be able to trade hands one more time.......and a man like Haye who clearly was never a fighter in his heart. I completely disagree,he showed in the klitschko fight he had the tools to hang in the division just not the desire.
