dogvixen01 34
advice required for a scope for pulsar challenger add on. have any of you had practical experience of using either a nikko sterling nighteater 8x56 or an ags 3x12x44 with one of these units.seen both for sale but would like to know which one more suitable.thanks. sako 23
I haven't used either but for add on I'd go for the variable mag ags. It's always nice to zoom in that little bit further if need be and even if you've got a spotter it's handy to zoom out for a better field of view for target aquisition if it's moved from where you spotted it. Some say the pulsar is useable on 12x mag maybe more so I wouldn't go for the fixed 8x mag but I have heard the nighteater range is decent with nv but for me it has to be a variable scope for add on. Also I think for shorter ranges it's important to have side parallax with the challenger but personally I never touch mine unless Im shooting with a lamp over 300. From what I've read it's the mamba range is best for the pulsar I believe...
cameroncharles 2
Am currently using gs20 pulsar with l805 ir lamp. The ONE thing that you must check is the eye piece end of the scope you want to go on it. The adopter that sits tightly on the scope end and is then tightend up. The eye adjustment ring on your scope will be the problem, hawke for instance have a knobbled eyepiece to aid adjustment ease but this actually results in your adopter not having much eye piece/rear end to grip too. Some other scopes have a smooth round eye piece adjuster which will fit your nv set up with better results. I know from experience (hawke on mine) and you may find that to get a good clear image you may have too adjust the scope eye as well. Hope that makes sense. Another useful thing to think about is how to range find at night. Find small torch, place in field at various yrds.(not turned on) when lense crystal clear in nv with whatever mag your using mark it off on the parrlex ring with a felt sticky pad. This way it gives you a fairly good range find at night using the scope. I wind mine upto 12,oa til eye is crystal, feel for felt pad for 30,40 or 50yds,wind out scope for clear image and away you go. The adopter for the nv is fairly sturdy, the important bit is getting nv nice and tight in the adopter. They came with i thin 4 different size adopter rings to suit most scopes but it is a pain to take one/off if you have one of the knobbly eye adjuster bits. Hope this awfully written reply helps you bro. Cam
