a little bit of advice bloodlines will give you an indication of how the dog will turn out = size stamina temperament colour etc. TRAINER TRAINING will give you a dog that will be good to work with don't get it wrong its not the dog that shows you up its you believe me been there and got the Tshirt.Dont give youself a time scale to work to or you'l only wind your self up and probably the dog aswell, shooting over it at 18 months can be done but you should only start to work the dog when its ready.don't fall into the trap of thinking its a dog from good gundog bloodlines so it should know what it should do you have to train it .not trying to pull you to bits only want to help and this is only my opinion anyway a.t.b. and good luck.

market trader's a super dog. if the bitch is well bred too there shouldn't be a problem.

most modern springers (with a few exceptions- torwind, towerbird, newflame are affixes that spring to mind) have a lot of rytex in them, as Openshaw is a dominant force in producing top spaniels whereas the Badgercourt line has all but died out.

read hily's advice above and read it well.

in my opinion bloodlines are not the be all and end all, I have a very honest dog here, has got hardly any ftch in the pedigree, but he's an honest dog, with all the good qualities and seems to be siring quality pups... its about the work you put in aswell as harnessing the dogs natural ability, don't get me wrong I would like to work with a dog with a pedigree full of FTCH, but we all know the trainers behind them have made their status up..

These top trainers can work with poor cases and make them Ftch I take my hat off to them..

Just stay true to yourself and the dog, lots of small doses of fun training with no rushing or harsh tactics and we will all have decent dogs on our hands...
