tia.kins 56
Been away from home for a bit so not been on much, thought an update on Roxy would be good. As posted about previously, she is coming on nice, growing well, shaping up good, nice at home..... ....a little cranky in the field around Flyn, and not overlly confident over everything in life, which is not a bad thing as she tends to seek that bit of re-assurance from me rather than just fooking off, or sticking her nose in She weights 18Kg, and is just shy of 22 inches. Lovely padded feet and a decent enough coat. I need to start having her out on her own as her focus at the mo is just flyn, so a have not been able to tell what her nose is like, but a few occassions when he has been off hunting up, i have watched her trying to work out some squirrel scents, and on one occassion she was off on a scent, across some fencing and then off into the woods where she promptly met Flyn with his kill. Whether it was flyns scent, or the squirrels i dont know, but her nose was down She has been out ferreting once three weeks ago. It was a brief seassion, we tried three warrens, two small and one large hedge. The smalls were blanks, but the hedge held as expected and given all the excitement, she didnt entangle her self in the nets and seemed to be aware of the their presence We bolted two rabbits to the nets, the first one she got to with me and watched me deal with it, the second required some hedgerow sprinting...by the time we got there, the rabbit had kicked itself free and Roxy chased it 4 or 5 yards back into the net and held it giving me a chance to catch up. There were more rabbits in there, but far to hot to be honest to hang around long. I only took one pic, see below. I thought about whether this type of warren best suits a pup...........and came to the conclusion that she will have to get used to them......so best start learning on them . If i can get her to learn the nets and to be patient this season, then that will be more than enough for this youngster being the age she is I have also taking her for plenty of walks at night. No running the beam, just walks over the moors to get her used to being in the dark and coming back in......likewise i have let her walk a few fields on the lead whilst Flyn was running the beam. She seemed to be fine watching. No daft pulling or barking, just watching, curious i guess. Her first rabbit that she saw run probably left an impression......it ran right up the beam towards up and ran into Roxy's legs Flyn wasnt close behind so there was no risk of train smash. It was the kind of rabbit i could of stuck my foot out for, but from experience, probably would of ended up in a heap having trodden on Roxy, se left nature to run its course.......Anyway, after that Flyn still didnt manage his catch .......but Roxy did seem to pay attention to the beam Anyway, enough rambling. Here are a few pics taken over the last few weeks. When i looked back at what i took three weeks ago, i can see the changes in her.....a constant reminder that she is still a changing pup. P.S............she has had her first Red Rosette too.............. Best eyes at family pet show Defo not collie ears.... Nice runner though.... ..........already faster and stronger than Flyn Not forgetting ole Flyn.... Edited October 9, 2011 by tia.kins Quote Link to post

I dont go choosing them, just seems common in the current collies X. Really limits your breeding options if I am honest! Quote Link to post
