bushart 1
took one of my hob ferrets to the vets on tuesday to have him vasectomised i have got to take him back today for a check up. Vets said it would take 7-8 weeks for him to be unfertile. Then i can use him to take my jills out of season he'll think all of his birthdays have come at once this year. The total cost of getting him done was £60. Quote Link to post

If they are going to test his sperm then you will be ok A guy on here told me up to 12wks, his wife runs the North east ferret rescue, and have known it take up to 12wks. Better safe than sorry imo MOLL. Quote Link to post
Guest Bigbob
Ferrets are like blokes we both have a sperm bank that need to be emptied before we start firing blanks ,Thats why blokes have to give two samples after a snip before the doc gives you the all clear .As a few folks found out to there cost if you dont allow your hob enough time after the snip you get a surprising number of litters .Its best if you can plan it to get you hob done a year in advance then it should be okay. Guest Boston
I'm glad I read this post now, we had our boy done last week and the vet said to us that we should be able to use him in 3-4 weeks, they didn't ask us to take him back for his little men checking at all Thankfully we have two jill's that have been jabbed and two pregnant so we have time to wait before we use him, I hate to think how many young we would have had if we'd have taken the vets word and used the newly ves. male and not decided to jab Quote Link to post
