jasper65 6
Kiya with all respect flying birds out of car windows has been going on for years! Andy Reeve did it in the 90's with Spar at the black stuff, Chris Soans and a couple of others did it with Imprint Gos's and some of the best slips I have ever had with Falcons a few years back out of the Hood have been out of a car window, if I jumped out the car to Unhood the falcon for the slip they would be well on the way before the bird could come to terms with them.. I know alot of Old school Falconers don't like it but things have moved on with the times, from my point of view my only worry flying in urban areas is if the quarry double's back across a busy road, but then again I won't condemn it as its down to the Individual how and where they fly their birds.... faff 0
I see it now.. .. but is it not up to the owner and trainer of the bird what way's they choose to fly them.. .. and i would say that no more dangerous than flying them on farm land and through woodland.. They is risk's in all form's of hunting but it's no good sitting on your backside worrying what might happen.. it's all about getting out there and giving it a go.. Millet but do you think he has permission to fly on that public road? if not that would be illegal Quote Link to post
jasper65 6
but do you think he has permission to fly on that public road? if not that would be illegal I know what you're saying Faff but then again there is alot worst things happening on the public roads every 5 minutes, drivers that are pissed up, people with no Insurance, Kids blasting about in Nicked cars, and the worst of the lot!! Old Grannies of about 90 still driving ....... Quote Link to post

Berkutchi 0
I dont have a problem with it,after all each to their own.Its no different to the average hazards such as wire fences and i know of two people who have had their longwings stampled on by cattle/horses whilst on a rook/gull kill having killed away from the Falconer. And the best Harrises ive seen have been flown from the car window at corvids and have notched up almost 60 odd kills on the black stuff,i cant see that from on foot. Quote Link to post

Berkutchi 0
I cant see it any different from for example small hawks taking brown hares, everytime youre hawk comes out of its mews theirs a risk, each to their own again. Quote Link to post

Fletcher 0
The Arabs do it in the desert and Turk in the town, not for me though, tried it once, could'nt change gear and kept spilling my pint. Maybe if Turk was on a horse it would be more acceptable? Quote Link to post

jasper65 6
Kiya Its a shame when most field sports are under scrutiny you can't show more support for succesfull adapated method of Hunting with a Bird Of Prey. I know Chris Soans personally from a flying point of view to also breeding from his film star male and a female Goshawk useing AI, I also know all the ins and outs from when they produced their Video "Urban Goshawk", to this day he will still tell you it was some of the best sport he had aswell as flying Game on foot, Hawking from a moving or stationary Vehicle will Guarantee slips to a Hawk which at times would otherwise be Impossible, I think you now need to come off the fence and realise this is a form of Hunting thats here to stay ....
