What rod

Recommended Posts

After about 15 years without doing any fishing i've decided to give it another go next year so started looking at rods but havn't got a clue what to buy. I plan on fishing local rivers and resevoirs for trout etc, nothing serious. Does it actually matter a great deal on the rod, what is a feeder rod, quiver rod, match rod, commercial rod, there is so many I havn't got a clue.

Joel I'd say the reason no one has replied yet to your question is because the answer would fill a large book.

Fishing tackle nowadays is so specialised that it's very hard to get one rod or reel to do several types of fishing.

So go to the places you plan on fishing and ask the locals what rods they use for different methods.

Rods can be expensive so learn all you can before spending your hard earned and then realising your rod is not suitable.

I have just what your looking for.

Shimano force master ax 2.40m,cracking rod, never even been outside all lables still attached.

I ordered this rod and didnt have it in stock so ordered a different one, then when it came back in stock they sent it too me.

This was about 4 months ago,so i wouldnt think they will take it back.

Well if your just giving it a go i suggest you buy cheap at first and then move to the more expensive stuff if you get into it. This is just my recomendation, others may chose differently but if i was to spend a day going for trout on a river this is the kit i would chose.

Along with some 6lb line and various other bits and bobs. You should easily be set for under £40, that way if you get bored you havent lost out on buying expensive kit.
