Usually late Aug through Sept and Oct is a good time to find the in my areas, and always on old pastures. Strange though, places where we used to find loads as kids, no just dont seem to produce. turtlehead 7 Posted October 7, 2011 Report Share Posted October 7, 2011 there's a field round my way i kid you not with hundreds of giant feckers in it.like someone said i think it's a bit late now.i love field mushrooms but my dad put me off having a go at puffballs,he gave them a try and said they were very bland.i should try them myself though i suppose.any cooking tips?
