Squirrel_Basher 17,100
I could walk all night and only see 3 of the fuckers .I personally i think a .22 is not suitable for fox in the field ,only humane dispatch, but that is a whole new thread .Before i had centre fire i shot many foxes with the rimmy but also saw a few go off scowling which is unacceptable and to say on a shooting forum ,to a novice that they are good out to 100 yds on fox with subsonic is a bit irresponsible Deker . Deker 3,478
cheers for help lads. what distance would they take a fox as i wouldn think they would have the power. what would be reasonable price for cz. A sub sonic .22lr has the power to stop a fox at 100 + yards no problem. The simple fact is to keep this humane you need to know the rifle/ammo/ballistics very well and be able to deliver the shot precisely to do that. 100 is not normally a distance to consider for fox, if you need that range, or further, then you need to consider a different tool. IanB 0
I´ve seen enough rabbits run off hit from misplaced rimfire bullets, never mind taking shots at foxes with them..anything over 60yards, not worth the risk of wounding a fox.. Quote Link to post

I was using Eley Subsonics, and it was a pretty calm night if I remember right. I was shooting uphill, the bullet entered the foxes jaw on the right hand side, went through it's brain and exited out the left side of the skull. If it will do that at yards, it'll still kill him dead at 100. Shot placement, skill of the shooter, and the right conditions will do it. But, it's 100% not something to be arsing around with/doing for the craic/or doing only because the opportunity is there. Centrefire is the proper job for foxing. I head shot two foxes that night with the .22lr, the other at 55 yards. The reason I chose the .22lr was I had a Tikka .223 that time that was able to shoot around corners (not in a good way) and I had lost all confidence in that rifle and my mate was losing chooks to foxy.
