Bryan 1,362 Posted March 22, 2007 Report Share Posted March 22, 2007 there are 2 hares in Ireland,the Irish which is from the same base as the Blue or mountain hare but has evolved over thousands of years to become much larger and very rarely changing colour(even then it's only a few spots) there are also a smaller number of brown hares in Ireland(they have black on the top of their tales while the "Irish" hares are brown on the top side of the tail.Think they are mostly in the north east! in beagling english packs can kill hares in england under the hour if they run without a check,the same packs have taken around 3 hours when hunting in Ireland if they do catch them!
