bannerboy 4
I have read most of plummers books and I have to say he is my favourite author, as has already been said I think he laughed at a lot of people in the working dog world and who could blame him?? Also my neighbour had a plummer for the last 5 years and it was one of the most impressive dogs iv ever seen above and below ground. He lost him last winter in a massive earth, this dog had to be dug out everytime as he stayed to the bitter end.It was his undoing in the end. Quote Link to post

wirral countryman 2,110
BBB,it aint always about looks,if that dog does whats asked of it then thats all that matters,I bred off a white bodied bitch that nobody wanted and she has thrown some smashing little pups, she works 100% at everything she does,I knew I would get some white bodied dogs but some of the pups are perfectly marked, the PTA,EPTS and the PTCGB would never sanction such a mating as it is scorned upon but colour and coat pattern will not stop a dog working,I will continue to breed only worker/worker of the right size and temperament in the future, how the dog works must come first in my book,WM 2 Quote Link to post

Why would you not call your terriers Jack Russells, The all white must be classed as a Russell. Plummer wrote of his "Pack of Russells" and I agree that coat colour seems a bad selection for a breed/type. PTA,EPTS and the PTCGB who are they to sanction anything. How does a person tell the difference from viewing a dog, if it is heavily marked or all white, if the owner does not tell them first. Just interested. ATB Quote Link to post

wirral countryman 2,110
P3,I could quite easilly pass 100% bred plummers off as russells,in fact I have in the past when they were"nt that popular,I don't know if you've read any of some previous posts I've put up of pics of my early 1980 plummer bitches,F1 and F2 crosses with their pups,I only kept the white bodied pups to breed on back then,to be honest I thought the whole Plummer terrier thing would die a death and his idea would not really get off the ground as he really struggled with head size for working fox and keeping the body size right,I've seen the large and small dogs he bred as plummers and the bigger stuff were nearly 17"TTS,I will say that he did persist untill he bred his ideal sized terrier with the heart to see any job through ,he did the opposite to me though as he only bred off the right coloured dogs for his standard,he was however a very accurate genetetist in predicting outcomes and colours of any future litters,by breeding off these white bodied bitches we know half the litter will be mainly white and thats why the reason for the various clubs having nothing to do with them, although if you were used to working plummers then you would see no difference in the way they act or hunt,I actually like the way the coloured plummers look now but I defy anyone to tell my unregistered stuff from the registered dogs,I will put some pics up,all related, all 100% plummers, you will see that colour can be bred to or away from, atb,WM 1 Quote Link to post
wirral countryman 2,110
A few more, these are litter sisters,1 looks like a russell and the other a plummer,I've kept both and they will be bred off if they reach a good standard of work,WM Quote Link to post

gravel 63
Nice pups , the pic of the dog and the frog, is a dead ringer for my dog, my dog is unregested as well , does it matter? but one thing i would never do is slag anyones dog like you slagged mine off for no reason and you know youself hes a stunning looking pup. ATB i still cant get my head round to why you did it? Quote Link to post
Big bald beautiful 1,231
probably because you put up the same puupy picture and then comeback with stupid comments when someone asks its breeding. 1 Quote Link to post
