Advice with young dog

every time I take my dog out and let off the lead it's off like a rocket which is no problem as recall with whistle is off to a tee but went out other night with my mate to show him the lamp n a couple of bunnies any way let him off in a field n he was off but he didn't stop n run straight into my mates dog caused no problem bar nockin wind out of each other but is this normal he is 9 month old don't want him running into trees n fences n loosing him!

ya i have had this problem before he will lurn eventualy pups are a bit think untill they get the idea what to do lol what i would do is slip your mates dog first then your pup or walk right up on a squatter and just slip the pup

mines was doing the same,when you very first let him of the lead.He would race around the park/field for a cpl of mins.what i did was let him of before you got to your permission,he only ever did it when he was first let of.now he is over a year old he does not do it at all.its just the pup being a pup,overly keen to race about.thats why i always start them late,i find all that puppy nonsense in there heads annoying and frustrating.
