Testing the new ground....

Recommended Posts

well, me n wor kid decided to try out the new permission tonight.

Its a place I frequently stay when Im on my travels and always notice a big number of rabbits and a lot of destruction so on Tuesday I approached the gardener and asked what my chances were of having a go at reducing the numbers.

His reply was...."you've got no chance....They never let anyone on here!!....but you can ask....."

So ask I did, in my best diplomatic voice......

The manager/owner was over the moon that it was FREE and immediately gave us permission to both shoot and ferret!

Anyway, I text him tonight to let him know we'd be on site. We arrived just before midnight after stopping at one of our other permissions half way down to zero the rifles in the stables.... theyre conveniently 35yds long and indoors which is ideal!!

The place was crawling with rabbits...First things first, log in with the local police....

After all was sorted we geared up and I scanned the field from the gate....2 at less than 25 yds..... I was just about to squeeze the second stage when we were lit up like a xmas tree..... it was the friendly neighbourhood plod with his searchlight!

We explained what we were doing, who we had permission off and gave him the log number to check..... All came through fine, not that we had any doubts. We had a good 5-10min banter and he set off as he had "work" to do.....couldnt have been a nicer guy!

So it does pay to check in.....

Back to the rabbits..... we split up and after about an hour we met back at the car..... I had 4 wor kid had 5, I'd lost 2 in the long grass/thistles(downside of NV once you take youre eye off the fallen!!), quick drink and back out again..... another hour and half I managed another 2 wor kid 1 more and we decided to call it a night with 12 in total......

We closed the log on the way home putting an end to a great night...

Pic of the bag.....

Excellent work as always you two :clapper:

I bet you two have more acreage in permissions stretched around the country than most of the royal family on all their own estates!

Must be the soft Geordie accents and the sheer fecking tenacity that you use. For those that don't know these two Darryl is the type of guy that would get stuck in a 50 mile trafic jam on the motorway next to a field, just as the farmer drives past in the landrover, jump out the cab waving a perm slip and ask the farmer for permission, get it, note the gps co-ords get back in the cab and carry on down the road. :victory:
