lurcher330 2,297
can Ivomec be used as a spot on i know it is meant to be injected under the skin but i think someone told me that it can be used like a spot on Quote Link to post
SNAP SHOT 194
NO it cannot be used as a spot on, As there is no alchol based synthetic compound to transfer the substance into the bloodstream, And regardless if you read that it can on the net i assure you it cannot... SNAP SHOT 194
If the dog is collie in the bloodline then there is a mutant gene which means most collies cannot break down the ivermectin compound, And isn't licenced for horse in ireland, if your looking for a good wormer for horses try panacur 10% for cattle and horses, its an excellent product, And for the dogs a cheap wormer for cattle or sheep containing 2.265% oxfenbendazole will surfice, given over three days... at a small dose rate, ATB. SNAP SHOT 194
Also another point which i forgot to add that if the bottle of ivomec is open more than 28 days the compound becomes toxic within the animal just another point to watch out for, And for those of you taht do inject the dogs, keep one neddle to draw from the bottle, and another to injsect, most this way withdraw the neddle within the bottle and seal with candle wax, hi main man, yeah still here, just don't find much to post on here these days, So i just keep my head down. ATB. Snap. Quote Link to post

lurcher330 2,297
forgot to add the spot on advocate also cant be used in collies, sheep dogs atb i have used advocate on my collie based lurchers with no problems and a vet once told me that any dog can be illergic to ivomec but the reason it is mostly seen in collies is that farmers use ivomec and they mostly keep collies Quote Link to post
